Held every three years since 2010, the Aichi Triennale spans a wide range of fields, synthetically exhibiting performing arts and incorporating learning programs with a core of contemporary art. Aichi Triennale 2025 will bring together over 60 artists/groups with various backgrounds from Japan and abroad, with artworks and programs presented in museums, theaters, and various city venues.
Resonating with the sentiments and visions in Adonis's collection of poems A Time Between Ashes and Roses, Aichi Triennale 2025 presents a futurity seen on geological timescale, beyond the perspective of nations and territories that divide human from the environment. This Triennial attempts to decenter the dichotomous idea of ashes, symbolizing destruction by war, development and disasters, and roses, reflecting coexistence and prosperity. Rather, it seeks a spectral, in-between way of thinking about the human-environment entanglements, questioning the boundaries between these extremes.
The Aichi Arts Center, opened in 1992 as a new base for art and culture in Aichi, has served as the main venue of the Aichi Triennale since 2010. Home to a museum, theater, and other cultural facilities, the Aichi Arts Center hosts a wide range of contemporary art exhibitions and performing arts programs.
